Ryde-based TV Production company People Media UK are celebrating their 2 year anniversary by cementing their working relationship with BBC’s The One Show as trusted suppliers – and have 3 films scheduled to be broadcast this month.
In a double bill, People Media UK has 2 films being shown on The One Show on Friday 9th June at 19:00.
The first is the story of the 2 rescued tigers at the Belarussian border. These 2 female tigers, Sophti and Topf, arrived safely a few weeks ago at the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary and are settling into their forever home.
The 2nd film shown that night is presented by Angela Rippon and is all about Walking Cricket.
Lee Saudan, Head of Marketing at the Sanctuary said:
“The production is absolutely fabulous” and she was “super impressed” by the professionalism of the People Media crew.
“The third film will be shown on June 23rd and will coincide with Armed Forces Day to tell the story of the Veteran’s Lounge and Hotel in the town, the first hotel of its kind to offer free accommodation to veterans in need. There’s a musical celebration in the evening, which is being filmed at Montage (poster attached).”
Barbara says:
“We have a wealth of broadcast experience to share. Starting out in London in the hectic world of TV Production we realised it was easier there to connect with other media professionals so we’ve always been keen to share chances and opportunities with people here. In this way we can help grow the creative industries around us. Plus, we love this Island!”
Producers Tony Steyger and Barbara Jane Mackie – both former BBC and Channel 4 producers – have years of experience to share with others. Using Isle of Wight College students as trainees.
The People Media duo like to shoot locally if possible and use island media professionals. Dayita Sagger-Hayward is their regular Production Coordinator and their two TV Editors are all on the Island.
Next up is another short film for The One Show about John Ackroyd, the Island-based designer of the first commercially available electric car built here in 1973. Barbara wrote and directed her first Musical, using a local Island cast and secured Arts Council funding to take it to the London stages.
