Police have closed access to a beach near Ryde this evening (Sunday) as officers respond to an ongoing incident.
Officers are currently in attendance at Players Beach in Binstead – situated between Fishbourne and Ryde.
It’s here that they have cordoned off the access path to the popular, but secluded, beach from Ladies Walk.
Detectives from Newport CID are on scene.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for a statement, with an update expected on Monday.
UPDATE @ 12:00 – Police have confirmed that a body of a man has been found.
His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

To answer yor question/complaint, would you rather there was no notification of an incident until every detail is known and checked? Then readers would complain they were not told earlier. They would complain even more if the reporter speculated – as so many posters do on this site. The situation is called a developing story.Its what I did as hack and editor for many years. As a journo you learn quickly you cant please everyone, but you have to stick to the basic rules which haven’t changes for decades despite ever advancing technology.
