Triathletes battled cold sea temperatures and strong currents in Cowes yesterday (Sunday) as the Wight Tri Summer Series came to a close with the Club Championships Triathlon.
Competitors faced challenging conditions during the swim, with a strong tide making the turn around the buoy particularly difficult.
After completing the swim, athletes headed out on the bike course towards Shalfeet before returning for a run along the promenade to complete the race.
Despite suffering a puncture, Team Paddy Condy and Kelly Carmichael produced an impressive performance to finish just 26 seconds away from their predicted time, making them the closest team to their target.

The overall Club Champion title went to Paula Griffiths, who finished just 1 minute and 24 seconds away from her predicted time.
Competition was also fierce in the fastest race categories, with Helen Scholes taking 1st place in the ladies’ event, followed by Claire Squirrell in 2nd and Lucy Doorly in 3rd.
In the men’s event, Craig Wilson claimed the top spot, with Loic Le Floch finishing 2nd and Steve Snary taking 3rd.
The event brought the Wight Tri Summer Series to a close following a challenging day of racing in Cowes.
