West Wight struck 3 times in the opening half-hour against Northwood St Johns before overcoming a 2nd-half sending-off to maintain their unbeaten start.
West Wight strengthened their grip on top spot with an impressive victory at Northwood St Johns on Saturday (10th October), with Jude Millar scoring twice as the visitors established a commanding lead before being reduced to 10 men.
The visitors opened the scoring in spectacular fashion in the 10th minute when Chris Elliott produced a magnificent 30-yard lob that sailed into the net (0-1).
Jude Millar doubled West Wight’s advantage in the 20th minute (0-2) before striking again just 10 minutes later to complete his brace and leave Northwood facing a 3-goal deficit after only half an hour (0-3).
West Wight took their commanding advantage into the interval, but the contest took an unexpected turn in the 65th minute when Zak Harris was shown a red card. The visitors now faced the prospect of defending their lead with 10 men for the remaining 25 minutes.
Northwood had the numerical advantage and an opportunity to reduce the deficit, but West Wight protected their 3-goal cushion through the closing stages to secure another victory and preserve their clean sheet.

East Cowes Sports Reserves 1-0 Binstead & COB Reserves
A solitary 2nd-half goal was enough to send East Cowes Sports Reserves through to the next round at the expense of Binstead & COB Reserves. Neither side could break the deadlock before half time, but the home team eventually found the breakthrough to claim a narrow victory.
Newchurch 4-3 Oakfield Reserves
Newchurch edged a 7-goal thriller against Oakfield Reserves, with Riley Bates among the scorers in the 88th minute. Kenneth Young bagged a brace with goals in the 26th and 79th minutes, while Matthew Ogden also found the net in the 60th. Newchurch’s 4-goal haul was enough to secure their place in the next round of the Junior A Cup.
MEMORIAL CUP
Binstead & COB 3-0 Cowes Sports Reserves
Zak Sullivan struck twice as Binstead & COB swept aside Cowes Sports Reserves, opening the scoring with a superb free kick before converting a penalty. Cowes improved after the interval, but defenders Craig Mason and Henry West held firm before Paul Dodd rounded off an excellent team move. Cian McGee earned Man of the Match honours for his tireless performance.
Brading Town 1-0 Ryde Saints
Substitute Todd Bennett was Brading Town’s cup hero, scoring just 10 minutes after entering the action to knock Ryde Saints out of the Memorial Cup. With the contest still goalless, Bennett replaced Harry Hayward in the 59th minute before breaking the deadlock in the 69th to send the Romans through at Vicarage Lane.
Osborne Coburg 4-7 Newport IW Reserves
An extraordinary 11-goal thriller saw Newport IW Reserves overcome Osborne Coburg, with Tom Brownrigg grabbing a hat-trick and Robbie Shepherd and Ryleigh Wan both scoring twice. Carl Phillipson and Jason Pengelly replied for Coburg, alongside a brace from Theo Lewis. Brownrigg completed his treble shortly after half time, while Shepherd struck in stoppage time to round off a remarkable afternoon of goals.
Sandown & Lake 4-0 Oakfield
Temitope Adafin struck a hat-trick as Sandown & Lake swept aside Oakfield in the Memorial Cup. Adafin gave the hosts a dream start by scoring in the opening minute before adding further goals in the 69th and 77th minutes. Sandown had led by a single goal at the interval but finished comfortable winners after a dominant 2nd-half display.
East Cowes Sports 1-2 Whitecroft & Barton Sports
Aidan Sainsbury struck the decisive goal in the 61st minute as Whitecroft & Barton Sports came out on top against East Cowes Sports. Mackinly Blacklock was on target for the hosts, while Shay Dixon also scored for W&B as the sides went into the interval level at 1-1. Sainsbury’s 2nd-half winner sent the visitors into the next round.
