A Bembridge hairdresser has applied to County Hall for planning permission to repurpose a summer house into an appointment-only hair salon.
Nicola Evans has submitted a proposal for the retention of an existing detached garden building and change of use to a hairdressing salon at Brook Furlong, a short residential street in the quiet village.
Her application form says the premises will operate 4 days per week, with opening times listed as between Monday and Friday from 9:00 to 19:00 and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00.
The submission says there will be around 200 litres of wastewater per salon day, based on 5 clients in 1 day, which will be discharged through the existing foul drainage connected to the main sewer.
The submission states:
“I will be installing an eco-efficient shower head with a flow rate that reduces water and energy usage by up to 65 per cent (approximately 5.39 litres per minute).
“This equates to approximately 135 litres per day for washing and rinsing with a further allowance for hand washing and toilet use. I have also taken into account the washing of ten towels per working day (approximately 51 litres per wash).”
1 extra car parking space is proposed as part of the plans.
