Security has been brought in at Sandham Grounds in Sandown after vandalism took place while maintenance and repair work was being carried out at the play zone.
Sandown Town Council says it has taken immediate action to protect the site and prevent further disruption to the ongoing works.
Executive Command Security has been engaged to secure the area throughout the duration of the repair programme.
The Council says the measures are intended to safeguard the play zone, support contractors working at the site and minimise any further impact on the local community while essential repairs are completed.
Sandown Town Council will continue to monitor the situation and says further updates will be provided as the works progress.
Details of the vandalism as well as the extent of damage caused is currently unknown.
