A new exhibition featuring work from 10 members of the Ryde Art Collective has opened at Quay Arts in Newport.
The Ryde Art Collective (TRAC), a group of professional contemporary artists based across the Isle of Wight, is staging its 2026 exhibition in the West Gallery until 8th November.
Although its members are not all based in Ryde, the collective holds its monthly meetings in the town.
This year’s exhibition features work from 10 members and has been brought together by artist Maya Brasington, lead curator at Aspex in Portsmouth, with sponsorship from McCarthy and Booker.
Among the works on display is Karen Mead’s Coterie Absurdia, which uses traditional lino cuts printed onto acrylic sheets, allowing powerful female figures to break free from the 2-dimensional plane.
Gill Clarke has contributed 2 works, including Still Life, which explores the frustration and boredom associated with domestic chores while also showcasing her established pottery skills.
Fiona Schindler’s Brochs draws inspiration from ancient Scottish towers through hand-built stoneware vessels finished with oxides.
Fran Farrar is also exhibiting work using film, with one piece presented against a backdrop of water in the New Forest.
The TRAC exhibition is open daily at Quay Arts until 8th November, with the exception of 24th October.
