Rave pioneer Slipmatt is returning to the Isle of Wight following a sold-out appearance last November, this time joined by Ibiza favourite Brandon Block for a 5-hour Old Skool Day Rave in Newport.
The 2 dance music legends will headline an afternoon of classic rave and Ibiza anthems at Strings Bar & Venue on Saturday 28th November, with the event running from 14:00-19:00.
Organised by DJ Omar Presents, the event will bring together 2 of the biggest names from the original rave and Ibiza clubbing scenes, alongside a line-up of familiar Island DJs.
Slipmatt, who helped shape the UK rave scene as one half of legendary dance act SL2, is known for tracks including On A Ragga Tip, DJs Take Control and Way In My Brain. With a career spanning more than 3 decades, he continues to attract generations of ravers with sets celebrating the sounds of the early 1990s.
He will be joined by Brandon Block, a familiar name from Ibiza’s golden clubbing era, who became famous for his sessions on the Space Ibiza terrace alongside Alex P.
Known for his uplifting house music and energetic performances, Block was a prominent figure during the years that helped establish Ibiza as a global dance music destination.
Supporting the headline acts will be DJ Omar, Ricky Redhead, Spin-E and Paul Anthony, with the afternoon set to feature old skool rave classics, Ibiza anthems and uplifting house music.
Strings will also be transformed with lasers, lighting and full club production, bringing the atmosphere of a big night out to an afternoon event.
The upcoming rave follows a successful run of events at the Newport venue, with DJ Omar Presents having welcomed acts including Baby D, Judge Jules, Howard Donald, Seb Fontaine and Ian Van Dahl over the past year. Several events have sold out, with the afternoon party format proving popular among Island audiences.
DJ Omar has said:
“We’ve had some fantastic parties at Strings over the past year, with several sell-outs, and the support from Island audiences has been amazing. I’m passionate about keeping ticket prices affordable and making big-name artists accessible to everyone.
“Day parties have become incredibly popular because you can enjoy all the atmosphere and energy of a big night out, get together with friends and still be home at a reasonable hour! Having Slipmatt and Brandon Block together is going to make this one a really special afternoon.”
The Old Skool Day Rave is aimed at those who remember the original rave scene and Ibiza’s clubbing heyday, as well as anyone who enjoys the classic anthems of the era.
Tickets for the event on Saturday (28th November) are on sale now.
