Motorists are facing traffic chaos in Ryde this morning (Tuesday) due to temporary traffic lights at Westridge Cross – one of the busiest junctions on the Isle of Wight.
Traffic is backed up from Westridge to Beaper Shute, on the way to Brading, as a result of the 4-way lights.
The problem comes after overnight works by Island Roads on Marlborough Road, which they have failed to complete in time. They have installed temporary traffic lights instead of making Marlborough Road one-way only.
Traffic is also backed up a significant length of Smallbrook Lane, as well as along Great Preston Road.
This is affecting those heading in and out of Ryde.
Motorists should allow an extra 15 to 30 minutes for their journeys this morning, and potentially for the evening rush-hour – if Island Roads cannot resolve the problem.
