Thorness Bay Holiday Park on the Isle of Wight is set for a massive £6million transformation, with high ropes, indoor adventure golf, new restaurants and a 2-storey entertainment venue among the attractions coming to the site by Easter 2027.
Holiday park operator Parkdean Resorts has announced the major investment, which will see significant improvements to the park’s leisure facilities, activities, accommodation and food and drink offerings.
Among the new attractions will be high ropes, indoor adventure golf and off-road driving experiences for children aged 4 and over.
Families will also be able to enjoy expanded indoor and outdoor adventure play areas, a bounce park, sports court and a Bear Grylls-themed escape room.
One of the biggest additions will be a brand-new 2-storey entertainment venue, which will include Hat-Tricks sports bar, offering interactive darts, pool and shuffleboard.
The development will also introduce several new food and drink outlets, including Scoops Ice Cream, Joe’s American Grill and Thunderbird Strip Shack.
A new outdoor entertainment and dining area, complete with a bar and seating, will also be created as part of the transformation.
The £6million project forms part of Parkdean Resorts’ wider £70million investment programme across its UK holiday parks in 2027, which also includes a £5million upgrade at Skipsea Sands Holiday Park in East Yorkshire.
The company says the improvements at Thorness Bay will help boost tourism on the Isle of Wight while creating new permanent and seasonal jobs.
Parkdean Resorts currently operates 4 holiday parks on the Island – Landguard, Lower Hyde, Nodes Point and Thorness Bay – employing more than 430 people across the sites.
The company also recruited for around 240 seasonal positions this year, supporting the local economy during the busy holiday season.
Steve Richards, Chief Executive Officer at Parkdean Resorts, has said:
“We’re committed to investing £6m in Thorness Bay Holiday Park, upgrading our accommodation and further enhancing the holiday experience for guests and owners on the Isle of Wight.
“From exciting new activities that include adventure golf and high ropes to an enhanced food and drink offering, there will be even more for families and holidaymakers to enjoy.
“This investment reflects our continued commitment to supporting local jobs, tourism and economic growth in the communities where we operate.
“We look forward to welcoming guests to a new and improved Thorness Bay from Easter 2027.”
Parkdean Resorts operates 65 holiday parks across the UK, welcoming more than 3million holidaymakers last year.
As part of its Isle of Wight holiday packages, the company also offers discounted ferry crossings of up to 40% through partnerships with Wightlink and Red Funnel.
