Registered sex offender Vincent Maunder has been jailed for 12 months after using a laptop and deleting its browsing history, in breach of a Crown Court order.
45-year-old Maunder, originally from Halifax, was found guilty of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) following a trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court last week.
The court heard that Maunder had used an MSI Cyborg 15 laptop, which was capable of accessing the internet, and deleted its browsing history on 2nd April this year. This was in breach of restrictions imposed on him by Bradford Crown Court on 12th December 2024.
Maunder was arrested in Newport in April following an incident off Long Lane, before being charged and remanded in custody in connection with the breach of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The 45-year-old had previously received suspended custodial sentences for breaching court-imposed restrictions, avoiding immediate imprisonment until December 2024, when he was handed a custodial sentence for a further breach.
However, he had been released from prison by April this year, when he travelled to the Isle of Wight.
Maunder denied the latest offence, entering a not guilty plea on 26th June, but was found guilty last Thursday (15th October).
His Honour Judge Ashworth sentenced Vincent Maunder to 12 months’ imprisonment. However, Maunder has served several months on remand – which will be taken into account when calculating his release date.
