A charity fun day featuring live entertainment, falconry demonstrations, inflatable attractions and more than 30 stalls will take place at Robin Hill this Saturday (17th October) to raise funds for African vulture conservation.
The VULPRO Community Day will take place at Robin Hill Adventure Park from 11:00, bringing together families, local businesses and charities for a day of entertainment while raising awareness of the plight of Africa’s endangered vultures.
The event is being held in aid of VULPRO, an organisation dedicated to protecting African vultures through rescue, rehabilitation, research and conservation efforts.
Visitors can look forward to a packed programme of activities, including flying displays, falconry demonstrations, live entertainment, magic performances and appearances from the Wolf Guard.
One of the highlights of the day will be a special conservation talk at 15:30 from Kerri, CEO and founder of VULPRO, who will share insights into the challenges facing African vultures and the work being undertaken to protect them.
There will also be video footage highlighting the conservation crisis facing these birds and the efforts being made to safeguard their future.
Families can enjoy a range of attractions throughout the day, including inflatable rides, face painting, an all-day car boot sale and more than 30 stallholders offering a variety of goods.
Several Isle of Wight animal welfare and conservation organisations will also be represented, including the Isle of Wight Badger Trust, Track A Dog Team, Red Squirrel Trust and Friends of the Animals.
A raffle will be held with a top cash prize of £500, while food vendors will be on site throughout the event. The bar will open from 13:00.
Organisers hope the event will help educate the next generation about the importance of vulture conservation while bringing the Island community together for a worthwhile cause.
Tickets cost £8 for adults, with children under 14 admitted free of charge. Admission also includes access to Robin Hill’s unmanned attractions.
The VULPRO Community Day is supported by Red Funnel and Robin Hill Adventure Park.
Further information and tickets are available through VULPRO’s website.
