Two of the Isle of Wight’s leading law firms have joined forces, with Eldridges Solicitors, a firm that has been providing legal services on the Island for nearly 200 years, merging with Churchers.
The merger, which officially took effect on 1st October 2026, sees the Eldridges team and its clients become part of Churchers, the Isle of Wight’s largest solicitors.
The move brings together 2 established legal teams, with the aim of providing individuals, families and businesses with access to a wider range of specialist legal services.
Churchers already has offices in Newport, Ryde, Cowes and Freshwater, and says the merger represents a further investment in its Isle of Wight operations.
The firm has committed to maintaining accessible, high-quality legal services across the Island, allowing clients to obtain specialist advice locally.
For existing Eldridges clients, the merger is expected to provide continuity of service while opening up access to the wider expertise and resources available through Churchers.
Andrew Bryan, Managing Partner at Churchers, has said:
“I am delighted Eldridges is teaming up with Churchers as we share the same business philosophy and principles to provide professional legal services across the Isle of Wight and beyond.
“The merger marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for both teams. Churchers will continue to invest in its Isle of Wight presence, with the aim of ensuring that individuals, families and businesses can access comprehensive legal support from a firm with a strong understanding of the local community now bolstered with the experience and expertise of our Eldridge’s colleagues.
“By combining this with Churchers’ wider legal offering, the merger strengthens our ability to provide clients with a comprehensive range of legal services while maintaining the accessible and personal approach expected from a local law firm.”
Adam Jessup, Partner at Eldridges, now Churchers, has said:
“Eldridges’ is proud of its long history of providing legal services on the Isle of Wight.
“Joining forces with Churchers will enable us to continue supporting our valued clients across the Island, with access to a wider range of legal services while maintaining the same dedication and expertise they have come to expect from us.”
