A popular trading card show is set to return to Newport next month after attracting more than 300 visitors and raising £1,182.50 for charity earlier this year, with organisers hoping to beat that total when the event returns in aid of Friends of the Animals.
Correo Lounge in Newport will once again welcome collectors, families and independent traders on 22nd November for a day of buying, selling and trading, all whilst raising money for a local cause.
The event forms part of LoungeAid, a nationwide fundraising initiative which sees Lounge venues support charities and good causes within their communities during dedicated fundraising months in June and November.
This time around, Correo Lounge has chosen to support Friends of the Animals, an Isle of Wight charity dedicated to improving the welfare of animals in need.
The first trading card show, held earlier this year in aid of Sands Isle of Wight, proved a major success, with more than 300 people attending and £1,182.50 raised.
Organisers are now hoping to build on that success by attracting even more visitors and surpassing the previous fundraising total.
Those attending can expect a wide variety of trading cards, including Pokémon, One Piece, Disney Lorcana, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic: The Gathering, alongside graded cards, sealed products, sports cards, toys, collectables and accessories.
A range of independent vendors will be selling their collections, whilst visitors are encouraged to bring along their own cards to trade with fellow enthusiasts.
The show is being organised by the Correo Lounge team with support from HYPE, an Isle of Wight-based collector culture brand which runs trading card shows, pop-ups and other events for collectors.
There will also be a charity raffle, offering visitors the opportunity to win prizes whilst contributing to the fundraising effort.
All money raised through the £2 admission fee and raffle will go directly to Friends of the Animals, with contributions from vendors helping to increase the final total.
The event is open to everyone, whether experienced collectors, casual enthusiasts or families looking to discover the world of trading cards.
The LoungeAid Trading Card Show will take place at Correo Lounge in Newport on Sunday 22nd November, between 10:00-15:00.
Entry costs £2 per person, with proceeds supporting Friends of the Animals.
