Kavin Sivalingam has applied for a premises licence relating to an upcoming Premier shop at 21 Avenue Road in Freshwater, which is currently home to Coleman’s Carpets and will be until 31st December 2026.
His application form says it is hopes the store will quickly establish a regular customer base by providing a valuable community service. It also points to a complete refurbishment of the premises and around £100,000 in investment.
It says:
“Located in a primarily commercial area of Freshwater, the applicant will be offering a full range of grocery and other general home produce, and this modest application seeks to include alcohol products within the general range of goods available during the normal hours of the store.”
Mr Sivalingam is seeking a licence allowing the sale of alcohol, to be consumed off the premises, between 07:00 and 23:00 every day.
Steps he has listed for promoting licensing objectives include CCTV operating while members of the public are in the shop, staff training, a register for recording all alcohol sale refusals, an incident log and displaying notices requesting patrons are quiet.
Island Echo understands that despite their departure from teh Freshwater store, Coleman’s Carpets will continue trading as a mobile businesses.
