A prolific offender with more than 60 offences to his name has been handed a community order after stealing over £200 worth of goods from 2 shops in Newport on the same day.
29-year-old Sean Donovan, formerly of the Isle of Wight but now of Saltbrook Place in Lye, West Midlands, appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on 22nd October in connection with 2 thefts committed on the Isle of Wight back in the Summer.
The court heard that on 28th June, Donovan stole packs of meat, milk and a sandwich, valued at £100, from Pan Stores in Newport.
On the same day, he also stole £102 worth of alcohol from Sainsbury’s in the town.
Donovan indicated guilty pleas to both offences on 8th September.
The 29-year-old is no stranger to the courts, with Island Echo previously reporting that Donovan had accumulated more than 20 convictions for a total of 60 offences.
For the latest thefts, Donovan was handed a community order running until 21st April 2028.
As part of the order, he must undergo non-residential drug rehabilitation through Change Grow Live in Dudley, including providing samples over a 6-month period.
He was also made subject to a 6-month electronically monitored exclusion requirement, banning him from entering the Co-op Food store on Sedgley Road in Woodsetton, Dudley.
