37-year-old paedophile Martin Beere, who expressed his wish to commit a sexual assault on a child via a chat on Telegram, has pleaded guilty to making over 1,000 indecent images.
At the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Friday), Beere of St Saviours Road in Totland pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs/ pseudo-photographs of children, including 384 x Cat A, 398 x Cat B and 553 x Cat C.
He also pleaded guilty to a further fourth charge of making an indecent photograph. This relates to 1x Cat C image which was also the subject of his fifth charge, distributing an indecent image, which he also pleaded guilty to.
The court heard from Crown Prosecutor Liz Miller, who said that on 28th September 2024, police attended Beere’s address in Totland where he was arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing indecent photographs.
Beere had been identified as the suspect who had previously uploaded a still or moving image depicting child sex abuse on Instagram.
As part of the arrest, police seized a number of devices and items in his possession, including a Game Boy and a Samsung mobile phone. During a search of his devices, police found a Telegram conversation where Beere explicitly said he wanted to sexually assault a child, and went on to share an image of a naked child.
Ms Miller told Magistrates that during Beere’s initial police interview, he threatened to harm himself upon his release.
Martin Beere told the interviewing officer:
“Once I’m released I will commit suicide.”
Off the back of this, Beere was sectioned and held in Sevenacres before being released back into the community.
Magistrates told Beere of the severity of his crimes before ordering a Pre-Sentence Report to be compiled prior to his sentencing.
Martin Beere will next appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 8th January, where he will be sentenced.
