This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

• Jason Blake, 39, of Howard House, Barton Road, Newport – admitted breaching a community order by failing to attend planned appointments. The order was revoked and he was sentenced for the original offences, which included a series of thefts, assaulting a police officer and failing to surrender to custody. He was committed to prison, with the court recording an overall sentence of 16 weeks, and ordered to pay £60 costs.
• Ryan Hopewell, 26, of Fort Street, Sandown – admitted breaching a community order by failing to attend planned appointments and a home visit. The order was revoked and he was sentenced for the original offences, which included assaults on police officers and failing to surrender to custody. He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.
• Adam Leaves, 41, of Sylvan Avenue, East Cowes – was found guilty of common assault and criminal damage and admitted possessing cannabis. He was given a 2-year conditional discharge for the assault and criminal damage. The cannabis was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed, with no separate penalty for that offence.
• Bradley Tolfrey, 26, of Newport Street, Ryde – admitted stealing 3 tubs of baby milk powder and a drink worth £47.10 from the Co-Op in Sandown. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £47.10 compensation.
• Christopher Blainey, 41, of Clarendon Road, Shanklin – admitted remaining on premises in Newport in contravention of a closure order. He was fined £350.
• Connor Keates, 29, of Berry Mead, Wroxall – admitted causing £251.50 of damage to a vehicle. He was ordered to pay £251 compensation, which was imposed as the penalty.
• Daniel Skittlethorpe, 34, of Union Road, Ryde – admitted offences including shop theft, burglary, assaulting a police officer and 3 counts of criminal damage. He was given a community order until 21st September 2027, including 60 days of alcohol abstinence and monitoring, 12 months of mental health treatment and up to 10 rehabilitation activity days. He was also required to remain at his home address between 17:00 and midnight until 23rd September 2026. Compensation of £20.80 was ordered for the shop theft, £150 for damage to a vehicle, £50 for the assault on the police officer and £484.96 for the burglary.
• Daryl Geach, 67, of Marymead Close, Ryde – admitted drink-driving and possessing an extendable telescopic baton in a public place. He was given a community order until 24th September 2027 with up to 10 rehabilitation activity days, fined £120 and banned from driving for 12 months, reducible by 3 months on completion of an approved course. The baton was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
• Donna Moore, 46, of Fort Street, Sandown – admitted stealing food worth £5.35 from the Co-Op in Sandown. She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £5.35 compensation.
• Jack Cave, 31, of Colwell Chine Road, Freshwater – admitted driving without wearing a seat belt. He was fined £100.
• Jai Pearce, 32, of Westhill Road, Ryde – admitted drink-driving, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop after a road accident and driving without insurance. He was given a community order until 21st September 2027 with up to 10 rehabilitation activity days and 80 hours of unpaid work. He was banned from driving for 12 months, with a 3-month reduction available on completion of an approved course, and ordered to pay £2,000 compensation for the aggravated vehicle taking. His driving record was endorsed with no points for failing to stop. His record was also endorsed with no points for the insurance offence, for which there was no separate penalty.
• Jason Blake, 39, of no fixed abode – admitted 18 shop thefts committed in Newport, Cowes, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor, involving clothing, food, drink, meat and other goods. The individual thefts included goods valued at £114.06, £109.96, £112, £49, £46.95, £45, £41.45, £30.78, £26.94, £25, £22, £18.85, £18.65, £14.40, £11.40, £7.20, £5.45 and £58.50. He also admitted possessing heroin and failing to attend an initial assessment after a test indicated that Class A drugs may have been present in his body. The court recorded a total custodial period of 16 weeks, with the other 16-week theft terms concurrent. There was no separate penalty for the heroin possession or failure to attend the assessment.
• Jessica Vella, 36, of Wellesley Way, Newport – admitted stealing food and alcohol worth £37.80 from the Co-Op in Shanklin. She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £37.80 compensation.
• Joseph Doncaster, 26, of Youngwoods Way, Alverstone Garden Village, Sandown – admitted driving with benzoylecgonine above the specified limit. He was fined £1,500 and banned from driving for 2 years.
• Kai Glasspool, 20, of Acorn Gardens, East Cowes – admitted 2 assaults by beating. He was given a community order until 21st September 2027 with up to 15 rehabilitation activity days. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation in respect of each assault and fined £80 in respect of one of the offences.
• Leto Grewcock, 47, of West Street, Newport – admitted 2 shop thefts and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was given a 2-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £221.24 compensation in respect of one of the thefts.
• Lyam Ringer, 26, of George Street, Ryde – admitted stealing a crate of lager worth £11.50 from Tesco Express in Lake. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £11.50 compensation.
• Takunda Manhombo, 28, of Sandown Road, Sandown – admitted driving while disqualified, aggravated vehicle taking and drink-driving. He was given a community order until 24th March 2028, including 90 days of alcohol abstinence and monitoring and up to 25 rehabilitation activity days. He was fined £120 for the aggravated vehicle taking. The court imposed driving disqualifications of 1 year, 9 months and 10 days for driving while disqualified, 12 months for aggravated vehicle taking and 40 months for drink-driving.
• Thomas Walker, 25, of Newport Road, Cowes – admitted driving with ketamine above the specified limit. He was given a community order until 24th September 2027 with up to 30 rehabilitation activity days and 100 hours of unpaid work, and was banned from driving for 20 months.
• Timothy Young, 58, of no fixed abode – admitted 3 shop thefts and 3 breaches of a criminal behaviour order. The thefts included tools worth £378, 2 lamb legs worth £80 and other goods of unspecified value. He received 8-week prison terms, with the court recording a total custodial period of 24 weeks. The remaining 8-week terms were concurrent.
