40-year-old Daniel Flux has been handed a 21-year extended prison sentence for the rape and sexual assault of a young girl, whom he groomed under the pretence of teaching her how to bake.
Flux, who previously lived in Newport and attended Cowes High School, before moving to London, was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court last Friday (25th September).
The former Islander – who recently had been living in Southampton – first appeared in court in May 2024, going on to deny rape, causing/inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity and sexually touching a girl under 13 when he appeared for a plea and trial preparation hearing in December 2024.
The offences were committed against a young girl, under the age of 10 at the time, in Feltham, Hounslow, between 1st January 2021 and 23rd April 2023.
His trial, held before Her Honour Judge Lindsey Rose, began on 19th May this year. The jury returned guilty verdicts on all 3 counts.
The most serious conviction was for the rape of a girl under 13, in which Flux intentionally penetrated the mouth of the child.
He was also convicted of causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity of a non-penetrative nature, which he did under false pretences of ‘baking’. It is understood that it was during these ‘baking’ sessions that Flux groomed the child for sexual favours.
A third conviction related to touching the girl in a sexual manner.
Appearing for sentencing last Friday, Daniel Flux was handed a 21-year sentence for rape, comprising a 16-year custodial term and a 5-year extension period. Concurrent prison sentences of 9 years and 6 years respectively were imposed for the offences of causing or inciting sexual activity and sexual touching.
The court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order designed to tightly restrict Flux’s contact with girls under the age of 18.
Among its conditions, Flux is prohibited from living in the same household as a girl under 18, or entering or remaining in such a household, without the express approval of Social Services and the relevant police VISOR team.
He is also prohibited from having unsupervised contact or communication with girls under 18, subject to limited exceptions and specified approval, and cannot seek or undertake employment or voluntary work likely to bring him into unsupervised contact with children.
Flux must allow Police officers access to his address to monitor compliance and must notify the managing police team of any online dating profile he creates or uses within 2 days.
Flux has also been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
A restraining order preventing Flux from directly or indirectly contacting a number of named individuals was also imposed until further notice.
