A couple have pleaded not guilty to stealing a number of items – including a decorative oar and sofa bed – from a 5-bedroom property they were renting in Sandown.
Hannah Davies and Mark Wilde, of Avenue Road in Sandown, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (Friday), where they pleaded not guilty to 2 charges of residential theft other than an automatic machine or meter.
The court heard that, in 2024, the property owner had agreed to rent the property to the pair. Following their exit, the owner attended the address where it was noticed that a number of large goods were no longer there.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was alerted, and officers attended the property.
Liz Miller, for the Crown Prosecution Service, told the court that the stolen goods held a value of £2,250-£3,000.
Defending both Davies and Wilde, Nick Muir told the Magistrates that his clients deny taking anything from the address that was not theirs.
The pair have been released on unconditional bail until their next hearing, as elected, at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 26th October.
