Vacant land in the heart of Ryde Town Centre is set to be redeveloped with a terrace row of 2-bedroom houses.
Ebb Developments has lodged plans for a total of 3 market homes with front gardens at 25 Newport Street in Ryde.
Each house would have an entrance hall, open-plan kitchen, dining and living accommodation at ground floor, with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom at first floor.
The scheme would contribute to the Island’s housing supply in a location where day-to-day journeys can be made without relying on a private car, according to a supporting statement.
It says:
“The proposal makes efficient use of a vacant, previously developed site within the built-up area of Ryde by providing three modest two-bedroom terraced homes.
“The development repairs a conspicuous gap in the Newport Street frontage, follows the established domestic scale and rhythm of the street, and provides private amenity space, secure cycle storage, refuse storage, landscaping, photovoltaic panels and a safer pedestrian frontage.

The statement notes the site is close to public transport, shops, services, schools and facilities.
The land was previously used as a private car parking area but was sold off at auction.
County Hall’s public consultation on application 26/01289/FUL runs until 23rd October and a decision is scheduled for 18th November.
