A convicted sex offender from Newport has escaped immediate imprisonment for a second time, despite being caught with more child abuse images just weeks after receiving a suspended prison sentence for similar offences.
26-year-old Logan Robinson, of Nelson Road in Newport, was handed 20 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, just over a year ago, on 7th September 2025, for possessing and distributing indecent images, possessing prohibited images and possessing extreme pornography which portrayed sexual assault and bestiality.
As a result of these crimes, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.
Robinson appeared before a judge today (Thursday) having admitted a handful of sexual offences back in September, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The charges relate to 3rd November 2025, when a previously installed monitoring system on his phone alerted police to the fact that Robinson was looking at indecent images of children once again. Officers entered his home on Nelson Road and seized the device.
A total of 99x Category C images were found alongside 20x Category B, 16x Category A and 2 prohibited images.
The court heard that Robinson’s reoffending had occurred just 50 days after he was handed his original suspended sentence, where he vowed to the Magistrates that he could change.
Defending Robinson, Tom Cooke said that Robinson was “isolated” and that he is a “young man who is struggling to work out where he fits in society”. He added that the pictures were sent to Robinson “unsolicited” on a Telegram group chat.
His Honour Judge Newton-Price KC said he found it “surprising and depressing that you allow yourself to be involved in these groups” adding that it was “unjust” to activate the suspended sentence order.
Sentencing Robinson, Judge Newton-Price handed the 26-year-old a further 10-month suspended sentence to run concurrently with his existing sentence 2-year suspended sentence order.
He was also ordered to complete a further 80-hours of unpaid work and will remain subject to the requirements of the Sex Offenders Register. He was also fined £200.
