Wight Tri stalwarts Anne and Steve Dines swapped their usual behind-the-scenes roles for racing shoes as they both claimed age-group victories at an event in the grounds of Beaulieu Motor Museum.
The pair crossed the Solent to compete alongside family members taking part in 10k, 5k and 3k events raising money for the Forestry Commission.
Anne and Steve opted for the aptly named ‘Lumpy 5k’, which took runners through the scenic forest trails and grounds surrounding Beaulieu House.
Both produced impressive performances, with Anne finishing 1st in the Vet 70 category, 15th female and 23rd overall.
Steve also took 1st place in the Vet 70 category, crossing the line as the 7th male and 12th runner overall.
The duo are normally found helping behind the scenes at Wight Tri, serving coffee, setting up events and keeping competitors honest on the stopwatch.
This time, however, it was their turn to take centre stage – with the pair showing that age is no barrier to competitive success.
