Brothers Finley and Ayrton Manser-Grundy, aged 8 and 5, celebrated 2 podium finishes and a racing debut during a busy weekend of cycling competition.
The youngsters headed to the Forest of Dean on Saturday for the Little Fodders Downhill Series, where Ayrton was making his competitive debut in the Under-8 category.
Despite being one of the youngest riders in the field, the 5-year-old impressed with 2 clean runs on a demanding course that required plenty of pedalling.
After identifying sections where he could carry more speed, Ayrton improved his time by 5 seconds on his second attempt, finishing comfortably in the middle of the field.
More importantly, he crossed the finish line with a huge smile and was already eager to race again.
Older brother Finley, who recently turned 8, faced a tougher challenge in the Advanced Under-10 category, tackling a black-graded downhill track.
A blistering opening run put him in 2nd place, but disaster struck during his second attempt when a mechanical issue left him unable to pedal effectively.
Despite the setback, Finley managed to hold on for 3rd place, securing a podium finish against strong competition.
He also claimed 3rd in the overall series standings, despite competing in just 2 rounds.
There was no slowing down on Sunday, with Finley switching disciplines to compete in a Wessex League Cyclocross event.
After a foggy start to the morning, conditions improved as he lined up on the front row of the grid, a position earned through his recent results.
A strong start saw him move into 2nd place before briefly slipping back to 3rd.
However, the young rider picked his moment to attack, reclaiming 2nd place and holding his position all the way to the finish.
The technical course, featuring steep, punchy climbs and tight corners, suited his riding style as he secured his second podium finish of the weekend.
Away from the racing, one of the biggest highlights was seeing the brothers cheering each other on throughout both events.
With Ayrton enjoying his first taste of competition and Finley overcoming mechanical problems to achieve 2 podium finishes, it was a memorable weekend for the young brothers.
