A man and a woman have been charged with a criminal offence after allegedly having sex in a graveyard in Newport.
Daniel Arthurs, 38, of no fixed abode and 20-year-old Lorelei Fisher, of Forest Way in Winford, were both due before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week, charged with using threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
The charge relates to an offence that took place on 6th March this year in the graveyard at St Paul’s Church, off Staplers Road – as first reported by Island Echo.
It is alleged their behaviour, namely having sex within the graveyard, caused harassment, alarm or distress to a member of the public who witnessed the lewd act.
Fisher entered a not guilty plea and will next appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 23rd September.
Her co-defendant was unfit to attend court, and as such hasn’t yet entered a plea. He is next due before Magistrates on 11th August.
