Police have launched a probe after a couple were caught having sexual intercourse in a Newport graveyard.
It was just before 20:00 last night (Friday) that a shocked member of the public came across a man and a woman engaging in an act of indecent exposure at St Paul’s Church, off Staplers Road.
The concerned member of the public confronted the pair, stating that what they were doing was, if nothing else, disrespectful. It’s said they became abusive towards the member of the public, who dialled 101.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that it has launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred behind a stone wall in the grounds of St Paul’s Church.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved.
Anyone with information should call Police on 101 quoting reference 44260110390.

Have you seen the price of Hotel accommodation on
the island lately ‘shocking’
Let’s pray they repent their sins
Amen
Hope he cleaned the dirt of the bones first.
Blimey right in the dead centre of Newport
As if there aren’t enough stiffs in there,
they don’t need another stiff one!
What the couple were doing could be classed as disrespectful, but perhaps your headline could also.
Spot on Wendy. Perhaps the sub- editor responsible would be happier at The Sun.
Yeah have sex but not in a graveyard show some respect?
Some people don’t care where they drop their drawers.
Blarr blarr zzzzzzzz
As far as I know, both of my maternal grandparents were interred in that Cemetery in my extreme infancy, a long, long time ago. I do hope they were entertained!
They are obviously used to seeing Stiffy’s.
I think if we all go back in time we have all done similar
Agreed. My favourite haunts were Carisbrooke churchyard and Carisbrooke Castle
is this really news?
What then we would be called a pervert peeping tom. Lol I don’t believe this.
“Launched a probe”? oh, please!
What is there to investigate? There seems little doubt about what they were doing and the witness either knew them or didn’t. What is to discover? Indecent exposure implies they were in a state of undress. There is no suggestion that lewd behaviour was witnessed. Surely the police have better things to do?
Not a good way to spend tax payers money. People do silly things that doesn’t really make them criminals. Maybe use our tax money on real crime
Back in the day, graveyards used to be where most teens got to the stage between a snog and full sexual intercourse. Good to see the old ways coming back.
Weird teens, show some respect to the dead.
What happened to my comment?
Thriller
I’ve heard of jumping someone’s bones but didn’t think it was literal
Maybe their relationship is “dead” serious.
Make Love, Not War!
Must have been under the influence of spirits
The member of public whom found them having sex must have been scared stiff
