Yarmouth Bridge is closed in both directions this morning (Sunday) following the collision of a bus and car.
Reports came in at around 10:30 of a Nissan Qashqai coming into contact with the right side of a number 7 bus.
On scene, crews from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Ambulance Service as well as multiple policing units from across the Island are working to ascertain the cause of the accident.
It is believed that no serious injuries have occurred, however the driver of the Nissan is being seen to by medical professionals.
The cause of the incident that seemingly occurred as the vehicle widely pulled out of Harold Hayes Boat Yard is currently unknown.
Due to the accident and closure of the bridge, Southern Vectis have put diversions in place for both their route 7 and Needles Breezer services until further notice.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have been contacted for a statement.
UPDATE @ 11:34 – Island Echo have been informed that recovery vehicles are on their way, however it is unknown how long the operation will take due to the nature of the involved vehicles.
The driver of the Vehicle has been transported to St Mary’s Hospital for further medical attention.
Yarmouth Bridge is back open to pedestrians only.
































































































Kamikaze driving now, whatever next!
Looks like the island needs speed humps at all entrances and exits
to make sure when vehicles are driving out onto a main road they have
to drive much slower.
Better to be safe than sorry, the old saying
PREVENTION is better than CURE!
If I had a pound everytime a Numpty approaches a Giveway marking they drive at speed and don’t want to STOP!
