Quiz fans are being invited to put their knowledge to the test at a special Isle of Wight fundraising night in September, raising vital funds to support cardiac patients and their families.
The Beat the Heat Isle of Wight Heartbeat Quiz, sponsored by Emerald Elite VA Services, will take place at The Bargeman’s Rest in Newport on Thursday 10th September, with doors opening at 18:30 ahead of a 19:00 start.
Organisers are promising an evening of competition and camaraderie, with prizes up for grabs and a raffle draw also taking place.
Teams of up to 6 can enter, with tickets priced at just £20 per person, and a buffet is included in the price!
There will be an added competitive edge this time around as the Island Echo team ‘Headline Wighters’ will be returning to defend its title, having won the previous Heartbeat quiz held at Ryde Castle in March.
Money raised will support Wessex Heartbeat and its work helping cardiac patients and their families, including through Rotary Heartbeat House in Southampton.

“Rotary Heartbeat House holds a very special place in the hearts of so many of our cardiac patients and their families. It provides them with the priceless comfort of being close to their loved ones while they undergo life-saving and often life-changing treatment.
“For Heartbeat, it’s about much more than simply providing accommodation. It’s about offering support, reassurance and a home-from-home during what is often one of the most difficult times a family can face.
“For families travelling from the Island, the cost of transport and accommodation can quickly become overwhelming, with hotel prices often starting at £100 per night and no certainty about how long they may need to stay. We understand those pressures, which is why we only charge a £50 key deposit and allow families to stay for as long as their loved one remains in hospital.
“As a cardiac patient myself, I know first-hand the difference it makes to have your family nearby. Feeling supported and surrounded by loved ones can bring comfort and peace of mind, helping patients feel more relaxed and aiding both their recovery before and after surgery.”
