Families left homeless following a fire at a block of flats in Ryde have received further support from the local community, with Vectis Services Lodge donating £250 to help those affected.
The blaze, which occurred around a week ago, damaged a block of flats and left families having lost all or most of their belongings.
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, but those affected have been left needing alternative accommodation and essential supplies.
The Veteran Hotel stepped in to offer rooms to the displaced families, while members of the local community rallied round to provide everyday essentials and some comfort during a difficult time.
Now, Vectis Services Lodge has donated £250 to The Veteran to support its ongoing efforts to help the families while longer-term accommodation is arranged.
Members of the lodge gathered for the cheque presentation, with Worshipful Master WBro John Ostacchini and Charity Steward WBro Chris Bartlett handing over the donation to Catherine Kane, who is coordinating the relief efforts alongside The Veteran.
The donation is the latest show of community support for those affected by the fire.
