The Hampshire & Isle of Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) has been scrambled to a road traffic collison on the main road in Gunville this morning (Wednesday).
Police and paramedics are on scene on Gunville Road near the junction with Ash Lane where a collision has occurred.
At the scene a Vauxhall Zafira has collided with a pedestrian.
Despite the attendance of flying doctors, the casualty was treated at the scene before being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land.
Emergency crews were first contacted at around 11:00.
Island Echo understands that Gunville Road is currently blocked between Ash Lane and Forest Road. A member of the public is warning traffic from the junction with Taylor Road.
UPDATE @ 11:40 – After just 20-minutes on scene, the air ambulance has already taken off, heading back to base. Police remain on scene awaiting recovery.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have been contacted for a statement.
UPDATE @ 12:10 – Police have confirmed that the involved pedestrian has suffered a serious arm injury.
Island Echo understands the casualty to be a teenage girl, who was running for the bus.

more utter crap driving..
What does one expect, my guess is driving too fast
in wet conditions.
Does the air ambulance have to called out at all road collisions? never used to be have we got no skilled emergence people any more…
You are probably correct. I don’t think IW St Mary’s
carry out many procedures.
Air ambulance? Someone wanting to be a ”Look at me i can call a helicoptor” yes i know i’ll get slated for comment but what will happen is we’ll lose it complete because of running costs if used at the drop of a hat. The overall average cost across the UK is £4,748 per helicopter mission. If it attends every road crash just on the island it will break the budget.
I would have thought the Air Ambulance has better things to do.
Maybe the island should invest in their “own” Air Ambulance
increase parking charges on the island, rollout islandwide
permit parking charges and introduce ULEZ and CONGESTION
charges to pay for it.
Shut the f**k up. No one cares what you think
You know I am right, bless you for not wanting to hear
the truth.
Take a chill pill it might calm you down
Lol Numpty
Oh look its Enough is Enough using one of many of his fake names giving his self opinionated version of which he is always wrong and making an idiot of himself again, you know i am right lol.
I agree whole-heartedly. IOWAA will be responding to a sore arse if we don’t get a grip. There is no wonder the ambulance wait times are so long for ill people when it takes many of them to attend a one person incident.
20mph is plenty, safer for everyone, motorists and pedestrians.
Another day, another accident, say no more.
Were you there (NO)
Did you witness it (NO)
Do you know the exact circumstances (NO)
Are you trained to deal with this type of incident (NO)
Stop making all these assumptions and await for the facts to be released you self opinionated twat.
Hope the injured party/s makes a full recovery.
Don’t need to be there.
You only have to drive on island roads to see
that there is a speeding problem.
Maybe you should book an appointment at Specsavers
they have some great deals on at the moment and you
might also see the speeding problem.
Some people like to turn a blind eye to what is going on,
some people don’t, some people want safer roads.
Remember 20mph is plenty
You could not be further wrong with the drivvle you spout.
I drive and very often too, i have spent most of my life in the emergency services dealing with the most horrific incidents you only see in nightmares.
I am a highly qualified driver who has worked very hard to have achieved my positition.
I dont turn a blind eye and would be one of the first to help where you would turn and run.
People like you make me sick, you have not got a clue what you are talking about or trying to give YOUR advice of what others should do.
If you were to spend 5 minutes at the scene of a fatal you would wet yourself.
Try giving your gaping gob a day off for the sake of everybody on here, needless to say that you are a bit of a loner with very little in the way of friends if any so time to take a day off.
So you must know that speeding kills!
20mph is plenty give it a go, so many people
think because they do certain jobs they know best.
WRONG
Look at the Grenfell disaster, so called qualified
Emergency services personnel told people to stay inside the
building
WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT ENDED!
Keep dreaming.
The self opinionated twat gobs off again with not a clue what he is talking about.
Try getting out and try to make a friend as they are obviously in short supply for you.
Now you want to slag off the emergency services you really are a class 1 saddo along with being a 100% twat, GROW UP.
I know a bridge is out of the question but a bridge JUST for emergency access here Ambulance, fire, police NOT general public would save money and we would all be a great deal safer here in an emergency.
We really are sitting ducks here relying on the ferries and air ambulance.
And how is the bridge going to be paid for when it’s built, it doesn’t warrant building a 3 billion pound plus bridge just for emergency use what would be cheaper is to have extra emergency services on call for serious incidents.
Get a Chinese company to build it, it would cost
much less.
My thoughts exactly, even if it was just an extension of Ryde
pier and trains can go direct into Pompey.
Trains could have a medical carriage.
And how high would this bridge have to be? Would have to consider the hight of the yachts, container ships, tankers etc, and also the tides, the gradient of the ramps, the situation of the ramps, and what would have to be knocked down to build said ramps, also the drainage needed, any green space concreted over would send floodwater to the nearest available space, ie houses.
Dont expect that twat to understand mate, i think his given his only brain cell back to his neighbour he slagged off earlier.
Easier option for you “sitting ducks” move over to the mainland…then you can stop with your moaning…no, hang on real life will hit you hard and you will have far more to moan about, traffic, crime, noise, pollution, safety to name but a few…!
Well said mate.
You obviously don’t read about all the crime
that takes place on the island on a daily basis.
Well bloody move then, you really would wet yourself if you lived in an area with real crime not just silly little boys riding scooters.
You twat.
