Viking battles, falconry, live music, circus skills and traditional fairground fun will take over Arreton Barns this weekend as The Wight Brainy Bunch stages its first Summer Fair.
Families are being invited to the first-of-its-kind event tomorrow (Saturday 22nd August), with a packed programme of entertainment planned between 10:00-16:00.
Arena entertainment will include agility dogs, falconry displays, dance performances and a Viking battle re-enactment, while a samba band will bring music and energy to proceedings.
Younger visitors will be able to enjoy vintage rides and traditional games, inflatables, Football Fun Factory and RC Diggers.
There will also be an opportunity for budding performers to try their hand at circus skills during a workshop with Wild Woods.
Bob and Connie Cob will be making a special appearance and meeting families throughout the day.
Live music will come from Steve Love, Dune Buggy, The Spammy Oatis, Side Tracked, Mumma Mia and The Lazerhearts.
Visitors will also be able to browse a selection of local stalls and make use of the attractions and facilities at Arreton Barns and The Dairyman’s Daughter.
The event is being organised by The Wight Brainy Bunch, an Isle of Wight charity which provides practical and emotional support, as well as financial assistance, to local individuals and families affected by brain tumours.
A spokesperson for The Wight Brainy Bunch has said:
“We’ve got lots happening throughout the day and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone at Arreton Barns.
“We wanted to put on something that families could enjoy together, with a good mix of entertainment for the kids and live music for the adults – Every bit of money we raise helps us support local families affected by brain tumours, so we’re very grateful to everyone who comes along and to all of our sponsors.”
Entry to the Summer Fair is free, with plenty of parking available.
The event has been supported by sponsors Harris Fowler, Red Squirrel Property Shop, The Needles Landmark Attraction, Maher Ross, Merry & Co, Howdens, Airtek, PC Consultants and Glanvilles Solicitors.
All money raised will go towards The Wight Brainy Bunch’s work supporting individuals and families on the Isle of Wight living with a brain tumour diagnosis.
