A woman caught drug-driving after a fellow resident of Sandham House alerted Police that she was about to get behind the wheel has appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.
24-year-old Kyanne Hill, of West Street in Ryde, but formerly of Sandham House in Sandown, pleaded guilty to 3 driving offences earlier this week (Tuesday).
On 20th December 2025, the defendant, who held only a provisional driving licence, had driven along Crescent Road in a black Hyundai whilst under the influence of cocaine and a high level of the by-product of cocaine, Benzoylecgonine.
The court heard from Crown Prosecutor Rhys Evans, who said that police were called by a resident of Sandham House who informed them that Hill was about to drive under the influence.
Police soon stopped the vehicle, with the National Database showing the defendant did not hold a full UK driving licence.
After this, Hill was required to participate in a preliminary roadside drug test, which she failed, leading to a further test when in custody.
Ultimately, the 24-year-old failed both of the tests with a reading of 14 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood and 800 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine – the byproduct of the drug.
Hill told the police she had smoked weed before driving; however, results of the drug test found very small levels of THC in her system.
Jim Osbourne, defending, informed the magistrates that his client, who appeared in court with her father, has suffered considerably from mental health issues and is working to get herself clean and has plans to attend a rehabilitation centre on the mainland.
As a result of this, Magistrates decided a Pre-Sentence Report needed to be completed before sentencing.
Kyanne Hills was handed an interim driving ban of 6 months whilst she awaits her sentencing on 23rd October.
