The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled to a late night collision involving a van in Godshill.
Police and paramedics are on scene on High Street, outside Godshill Model Village, where a collision occurred at around 23:00.
Such was the nature of the collision, which Island Echo understands involved a van, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was scrambled, landing at the nearby Central Mead.
The main route through Godshill is currently blocked between Hollow Lane and School Crescent.
Southern Vectis buses are currently diverting and motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
It’s a 20 mph limit through there. I know that doesn’t mean they were doing 20 but come on middle of Godshill, how do you crash there?
It’s only 20 miles an hour there so guessing that speed wasn’t the cause. Hopefully it wasn’t a medical issue, on the other hand it could have been the driver being distracted by the topless woman in the model village appearing in an unexpected place! Erica. 🙂
Isn’t Godshill one of the islands Roads 20mph streets
that the majority of vehicles IGNORE and drive through FAST
20mph will only work if it is ENFORCED because motorists ignore
signs, so unless you have decent Speed Camera’s it is no deterrent.
Personally I would space out large speed humps along
Godshill High Street to MAKE vehicles drive at no more than 20mph
Too be honest with all the tourists that visit in the day time
I cannot believe Godshill has not been pedestrianised

I have no idea who is in charge of road safety on the island but
they need to attend some courses. ROAD SAFETY IS SHOCKING!.
More absolute shit driving as usual..obviously speed involved was there last night at 7 pm nice slow drive through..no issues.

I saw a young Numpty riding an electric bike near Shanklin
Chine.
He was coming along Shanklin Esplanade on the wrong side
of the road doing a wheelie at a ridiculous speed.
He was wearing a balaclava

IF THEY WALKED ALONG THE ESPLANADE LIKE

Let’s not forget, the police are the ones who do the investigation, not the public.
There have been lots of accusations regarding drug use and drink – bloods came back clean for drugs for a start. Also, nobody in the comments was there. The one woman who was there and commented like she was being paid by the word – her neice handed her newborn baby to the woman involved to be fed and winded, right in front of the oh-so-concerned woman… You know, because she was such a danger.
Nobody knows the situation, nobody can judge. Yes, she made a stupid and dangerous decision, but her physical bealth is punishment enough right now.
