Freshwater Bay Golf Club members faced an unusual challenge on the course as the club held its Captain’s Day on Saturday (15th August), organised by this year’s Club Captain David Harding.
The competition took the form of a Stableford, with golfers competing in teams of 4 and the best 2 scores on each hole counting towards the final total.
There was an interesting twist awaiting competitors at the par-3 3rd hole, where players were required to tee off using a putter before swapping clubs and putting with a driver.
A score of 5 proved to be a particularly popular result on the unconventional hole.
Taking the Captain’s Day honours were David and Kathryn Acklam, Jo Wright and Penny Diez, who recorded a winning score of 93 points.
Following the competition, everyone was invited to enjoy a buffet.
