A collision involving an electric car resulted in a call-out to Waitrose in East Cowes for emergency crews this afternoon (Monday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the scene on Castle Street at around 15:00 following reports of a single vehicle collision involving a Nissan Leaf.
It appears as though the Leaf has missed the turning to leave Waitrose car park and has instead continued forward into the wall.
Such was the force of the impact, airbags have been deployed and significant damage caused to the front of the vehicle.
Waitrose staff have been praised for their quick-thinking actions prior to the arrival of emergency crews. Those involved were then passed into the care of paramedics.
Bartletts have since recovered the vehicle and full access to Waitrose car park has been restored.
