A pensioner accused of leaving a woman seriously injured following an alleged assault on a petrol station forecourt has denied the offence.
77-year-old Merrill Brown, of Monks Lane in Freshwater, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charge relates to an alleged assault on the forecourt of Northwood Garage on Newport Road in Cowes on 8th June.
Brown denied the offence.
Magistrates accepted jurisdiction, but Brown elected for the case to be heard at the Isle of Wight Crown Court, where she is due to appear on 14th September.
She was granted conditional bail until then.
