Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is marking Co-production Week this (29th June-3rd July) with the launch of its new SHARE co-production principles and a programme of events encouraging staff, patients, carers and communities to get involved in shaping services.
Co-production means working with people rather than making decisions for them, recognising the value of lived experience in improving health and care services. The new SHARE principles provide a consistent framework for how the Trust works alongside people, communities and partners.
The principles are:
- Start early and stay involved
- Honest and respectful relationships
- All voices valued
- Resources and support in place
- Everyone included
During the week, a range of events, workshops and community activities will showcase co-production in action and highlight opportunities for people to help shape services. Trust staff will also be hosting information stands at community hospitals across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, giving local people the chance to find out more about co-production, ask questions and learn how they can get involved. Details of locations and times are available on the Trust website. www.hiowhealthcare.nhs.uk/co-production
Here on the Isle of Wight, an event will take place at Newport Health and Wellbeing Centre on Wednesday between 11:30 and 13:30.
Lesley Stevens, Chief Quality and Engagement Officer, said:
“Co-production is about listening, sharing power and working together to improve services and experiences. Many teams across our Trust are already doing this in their everyday work, and Co-production Week is an opportunity to celebrate that, share learning and encourage more people to get involved.
“The launch of our SHARE principles demonstrates our commitment to working alongside people with lived experience, carers, communities and partners and to include co-production in everything we do. By valuing all voices and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be involved, we can create services that better meet the needs of the people we serve.”
The Trust is encouraging local people to find out more about opportunities to participate, share their experiences and help improve services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Further information about events, community hospital information stands and ways to get involved is available on the Trust website and social media channels throughout Co-production Week.
