This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

- Nino Cavanagh, 33, of Trinity Road, Ventnor – admitted stealing 2 crates of Peroni lager worth £31 from the Co-op in Shanklin. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £31 compensation and £85 costs.
- Joseph Gulliver, 43, of no fixed abode – admitted 7 shop thefts involving goods worth £1,105.50, £872.50, £79.50, £275.95, £715, £381 and £420; using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress to a police officer; driving without insurance; failing to report a road accident; and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He received a total custodial term of 23 weeks, suspended for 18 months. He was ordered to pay compensation of £1,256 in relation to one theft and £26.50 in relation to another. His driving record was endorsed with 8 points for failing to report the accident, with no separate penalty for the insurance and licence offences.
- Sabrina Strickland, 39, of Highfield Road, Newport – admitted 2 offences of criminal damage, 2 common assaults and assaulting a police officer as an emergency worker. She was given a community order until 31st August 2027, with up to 10 rehabilitation activity days and 80 hours of unpaid work. She was ordered to pay £20 compensation for each criminal damage offence and £50 compensation for the assault on the emergency worker, as well as £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
- Martin Keefe, 56, of Marlborough Road, Ryde – admitted 2 drug-driving offences after driving on Brading Road, Ryde, with benzoylecgonine at more than 400ug/L and cocaine at 45ug/L in his blood. He was given a community order until 3rd September 2027, with up to 10 rehabilitation activity days, fined £120 and disqualified from driving for 17 months. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
- Andrew Hill, 36, of Slade Road, Ryde – admitted using violence to secure entry to premises, harassment without violence, 3 assaults on police constables and 2 assaults on emergency workers. He received suspended prison sentences of up to 20 weeks, suspended for 12 months, with a 26-day programme and up to 25 rehabilitation activity days. He was also made subject to a restraining order until 2nd September 2027 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £154 surcharge.
- Adrian Taylor, 59, of Prospect Road, Shanklin – admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm. He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, with up to 25 rehabilitation activity days, and ordered to pay £1,000 compensation.
- Cameron Warren, 38, of Spanners Close, Chale Green – admitted remaining at premises in Newport in contravention of a closure notice. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £16 surcharge.
- Makaide Shotton, 27, of Sun Hill, Cowes – admitted possessing cocaine and cannabis. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs, with both drugs forfeited and destroyed. There was no separate penalty for the cannabis offence.
- Abdul Howe, 26, of HMP Isle of Wight, Newport – admitted assaulting a prison officer at HMP Isle of Wight. He was ordered to pay the officer £200 compensation.
- Joseph Gulliver, 43, of no fixed abode – admitted criminal damage to a door in Ryde. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation.
- Nino Cavanagh, 33, of Trinity Road, Ventnor – admitted stealing food worth £8.50 from the Co-op in Ventnor. He was ordered to pay £8.50 compensation.
