British pop band ‘The Blow Monkeys’ are returning to the Isle of Wight by popular demand, with a live performance at Strings Bar & Venue in Newport later this week.
The group rose to prominence during the 1980s with a distinctive sound blending sophisti-pop, soul, jazz and new wave.
Formed in 1981, The Blow Monkeys released their first single, Live Today Love Tomorrow, the following year where the band went on to enjoy a successful career releasing several hit singles and albums Fronted by Dr. Robert.
They became particularly well known for Digging Your Scene, combining polished melodies with social and political commentary.
The Blow Monkeys initially split at the beginning of the 1990s but remain one of the most distinctive acts to have emerged from their era.
With promoters saying the group are returning by popular demand, their last appearance at Strings Bar & Venue in July 2021 proved a huge success as previously reported by Island Echo.
Tickets are on sale now through the venue’s website and app.
