Pop band The Blow Monkeys – who have enjoyed a successful career over the last 40 years – are coming to the Island this month. With worldwide hits such as the classics ‘Digging Your Scene’ and ‘It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way’, you can guarantee a packed night and some big sing-alongs on Sunday 21st July. Back in the 80’s they worked with people as varied as Curtis Mayfield, Paul Weller, Cheb Khaled and even Jamaican Toaster EEK-a-Mouse. No band since The Clash in their early 80s heyday had attempted to act as a sounding board for such politically engaged, eclectic music. After reforming in 2018, The Blow Monkeys have been incredibly productive releasing 8 new albums and playing hundreds of shows. They are certainly back in the swing of it and are gearing up for an evening at Strings in Newport next Sunday. Tickets are available at http://www.stringsbarandvenue.com.
