7 members of Wight Tri were in action across 3 different events on Sunday, with podium finishes, British Championship honours and GB age-group qualification among the achievements.
Jan Fletcher and Liz Dunlop travelled to North Wales for the Bala Standard Triathlon, where both secured automatic GB age-group qualification for the 2027 European Championships in Kitzbühel.
Fletcher competed despite an ankle injury and took gold in the 50-54 category, becoming British National Standard Distance Champion 2026 with a finishing time of 2:30:53.
Dunlop, returning to racing after several months away, claimed silver in the 70-74 category in 3:09:04.
The course featured a choppy swim in Llyn Tegid, a windswept bike leg and a hot, undulating run, with both Wight Tri athletes overcoming the conditions to secure their places for Kitzbühel.
Elsewhere, Dan Squirrell and Rob Webb represented Wight Tri at the New Forest Triathlon.
Squirrell completed his debut middle-distance event in 6:10:46, contending with difficult visibility during the swim, livestock on the bike course and a challenging 2-lap run.
Webb competed over the standard distance and crossed the line in 2:26:10, placing 16th overall and 3rd in his age group.
Meanwhile, Dean Pike, Steve Dines and Russ Mellor took on the Newbury Sprint Triathlon, which consisted of a 300m outdoor pool swim, 22km bike ride and 5km run.
Pike recorded the standout result of the trio, finishing 5th out of 349 competitors and 2nd Vet in a time of 1:04:18.
Dines, racing following a hip replacement, finished 170th overall in 1:25:03.
Mellor made his return following 2 years of injury problems, finishing just a second behind Dines in 1:25:04 to take 171st place.
