The Old Comical in Sandown is set for a new chapter with Dan Huby and Leanne Bannister taking over as landlord and landlady later this month, ahead of a major renovation and an official reopening in October.
The pair have announced on social media that they will take over the pub from 21st September, saying it has been a ‘long road’ to get to this point.
Before renovation work gets underway, the doors will open for a short period while preparations are made behind the scenes.
Cassie Clark will return to help manage The Old Comical until 20th September, while Dan and Leanne continue juggling their other jobs and preparations for taking over.
Familiar faces are also expected behind the bar, including Siobhan and Ash.
An exact date and time for the temporary reopening has not yet been confirmed, with further details expected to be announced over the coming days.
Customers have been warned that the bar will not be fully stocked during this short opening period, as the main stock-up will take place in preparation for the pub’s return following renovation.
Dan and Leanne are now asking customers what beers, ciders, spirits, wines, soft drinks and cocktails they would like to see available behind the bar.
Following the renovation, The Old Comical’s big official opening is scheduled for 19th October.
