Possible healthcare failings may have contributed to the death of a 40-year-old Newport man, an inquest opening has heard.
Mark Roy Steen, known as Steeno, who lived on Hunnyhill in Newport, died on 30th July, having been diagnosed with a rare cancer in April 2025.
The inquest into his death was opened at the Isle of Wight Coroner’s Court at Seaclose earlier this week (Wednesday).
The hearing heard that possible healthcare failings may have contributed to Mr Steen’s death.
His cause of death was stated as metastatic large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma.
Tributes to Mr Steen poured in online in the weeks following his death.
HM Senior Coroner Caroline Sumeray provisionally adjourned the inquest until 3rd March 2027.
