Plans to open a one-to-one nail salon from a summerhouse in the garden of a Newport home have been given the green light by the Isle of Wight Council.
As previously reported by Island Echo, nail technician Kriszta Oltean Kis submitted plans to operate the home-based business from the rear garden of 59 Robin Hood Street in Pan.
The plans have now been approved, subject to conditions aimed at protecting the amenity of those living nearby.
Miss Oltean Kis previously said the salon would operate on a one-to-one basis, with only a single client attending at any one time and no other employees working from the premises.
Her application stated that the proposed opening hours would be between 09:00 and 20:00.
In a statement submitted as part of the application, Miss Oltean Kis said:
“There is a summerhouse that I would like permission to run my business from. I have a 3-car drive where I am able to offer my clients a parking space, not affecting the road.
“There will be no employees or other people working.”

Council planners concluded that the business would not result in an adverse impact, but have imposed conditions limiting its hours of operation and ensuring the level of activity does not become excessive for a residential area.
A decision report also concluded that the proposal would have a minimal impact on the highway network.
The plans received support from neighbour Rachel Richards, who welcomed the establishment of a small local business.
Planning consent has now been granted with conditions to protect local amenity and ensure the development complies with relevant legislation and planning policy.
