A man has sustained potentially life-threatening injuries after being stabbed at a property in Sandown this evening (Thursday).
Police have locked down a residential address at Downsview, of Perowne Way, as investigations get underway into the stabbing of a man, which has left a blood soaked scene.
As first reported by Island Echo, it was at 18:40 that emergency services rushed to the scene amid reports of a serious and ongoing incident.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service immediately deployed 2 ambulances and a critical care paramedic to the scene, with firefighters from Shanklin mobilised on a medical response.
The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was also scrambled from its base in Southampton, touching down on open land near the scene of tonight’s stabbing.
Island Echo understands that 1 male has been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital, accompanied by specialist doctors and paramedics, where efforts are under the way to stabilise him.
Cordons are in place at Downsview as detectives from Newport CID begin their on scene investigations to piece together the events that have led to tonight’s significant injury.
It is thought the prime suspect is still at large.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for comment, with a statement expected on Friday morning.
