A 14-year-old boy and a 47-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 50s was stabbed to death at a house in Sandown yesterday evening (Thursday).
It was just before 18:40 that emergency services – including the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance – responded to a critical incident at a property on Downsview off Perowne Way, as first reported by Island Echo.
It soon became clear to first responders that a man, aged in his 50s, had been seriously assaulted and had sustained stab wounds.
Police officers rushed to the scene at 19:11, swiftly cordoning off the street and commencing door-to-door enquiries.
The victim was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance, accompanied by the specialist flying doctors and paramedics from the air ambulance.
However, despite the best efforts of all involved, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
It has been confirmed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary this morning that a teenager – just 14-years-old – and a 47-year-old woman have both been arrested on suspicion of murder and wounding with intent.
They remain in custody for questioning at Newport Police Station at this time.
Detectives from Newport CID arrived on scene at 21:00 last night, with initial on-scene investigations getting underway.
Further investigations are expected to be carried out throughout the day today, as investigators piece together the events that led to the death of the man in his 50s.

Poor man. Thankfully, this type of incident is extremely rare on the Island and this part of Sandown is usually a peaceful, lovely quiet place. So sorry for all concerned. RIP.
It never used to happen hardly at all until this type of scum started to get shipped here. This Island is getting poisoned by it, and it gets more thought of working families, war vets and pensions who have at least donated in some way towards the Country’s revenue

Rubbish it’s always happened I grew up in chronic domestic volience when k was 16 my friends mum was stabbed on the same rd by her husband 1986

I thought that part of sandown was a bit rough? I know some areas are. Of course this is a terrible thing that’s happened for whatever reason. Until we find out what occurred speculation is futile

30 years ago this stopped being a beautiful island, before that ,…kids could play out (as i did ),
