A plethora of emergency services – including an air ambulance – have descended on a residential street in Sandown this evening (Thursday) in response to a serious medical emergency, with cordons now in place.

At the same time, the Hampshire. & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) was scrambled from its base at Southampton Airport, taking just minutes to fly across the Solent and the Isle of Wight to touch down on open land off Perowne Way.
The patient has now been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance, accompanied by specialist flying medics from HIOWAA.
