An Isle of Wight triathlete has raised more than £1,300 for the British Heart Foundation after completing the Bournemouth Pier-to-Pier Swim alongside 2 family members.
Annette Hickman, a member of Wight Tri, teamed up with her nieces, Sophie and Sam, to tackle the 1.4-mile open water challenge as the newly formed ‘S.A.S’ team – standing for Sea, Sweat & Sass.
After a warm-up and safety briefing on the beach, the trio took to the water to complete the swim between Bournemouth’s piers.
Despite encountering a slight tide during the event, the family completed the course in an impressive 59 minutes.
Annette experienced a minor cramp towards the end of the swim but was able to complete the challenge without issue.
The event also served as a fundraising effort, with Annette raising more than £1,300 for the British Heart Foundation.
Her achievement has been praised by fellow members of Wight Tri, who congratulated Annette and her nieces on both their successful swim and their fundraising efforts for the charity.
