A car has hit what is understood to be an elderly woman this afternoon (Friday), blocking access through Ventnor High Street.
The incident occurred at around 12:15 on a busy Ventnor High Street near its junction with Pier Street and Church Street – just outside Boots.
A total of 2 ambulances were on scene blocking the road, one of which was a critical care paramedic and 2 Police vehicles.
Island Echo understands that no life-threatening injuries have occurred; however, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have been contacted for a statement regarding the condition of the woman.
Officers on scene are carrying out door-to-door enquiries to ascertain a full understanding of the incident.

UPDATE @12:45 – All emergency services having left the scene and the patient is being transported to St Mary’s Hospital for further medical assistance.
Ventnor High Street has now reopened to traffic.
