A total of 10 of the Isle of Wight’s best-known food and drink producers have joined forces to launch a new initiative aimed at encouraging residents and visitors to explore the Island’s thriving culinary scene.
The newly formed Island Foodie Collective brings together independent businesses that not only produce their own food and drink but also welcome visitors to experience their products first-hand.
Among those taking part are Adgestone Vineyard, Briddlesford Farm, Caffè Isola, Goddards Brewery, Harvey Browns, Isle of Wight Distillery, Nunwell Farm Kitchen and Braai, Quarr Abbey, The Garlic Farm and Wight Knuckle at The Point Bembridge.
A new visitor map has been produced as part of the initiative, highlighting locations across the Isle of Wight where people can eat, drink, shop and learn more about local producers. The maps will be available from participating businesses and ferry terminals.
The collective aims to promote the Island’s diverse food and drink offering, from award-winning cheese, artisan coffee and locally brewed ales to English sparkling wine, premium spirits, seasonal produce and farm-to-table dining experiences.
Jemma, of Harvey Browns, has said:
“The Isle of Wight is home to an incredible community of independent food and drink businesses, each with its own story to tell. The collective is about celebrating that diversity and encouraging people to explore beyond the familiar.
“Whether you’re visiting the Island for the first time or have lived here all your life, there is always something new to discover.”
The initiative has been launched as interest in food tourism continues to grow, with the collective hoping to make it easier for visitors to discover local producers while supporting the farmers, growers, makers and hospitality businesses that contribute to the Island’s economy.
